We’re so excited to be making our way into an already busy New Year and a new decade! Here at Riverhouse Catering, we’ve been working on some amazing events across the state and region and have terrific things planned for the upcoming seasons.
To kick off 2020, we wanted to take some time and look back on the jaw-dropping and magnificent occasions we helped make possible in 2019.
Here are our picks for the top 3 memorable events of 2019 and a closer look at the unique, fun and breathtaking things that made them stand out.
June Wedding at Smith Farm Gardens

The late spring season in Connecticut is an incredible time to get married. Not only because of the mild outdoor temperatures but also because of the floral landscapes and natural outdoor beauty that can further amplify an event and make it truly memorable.

On June 15, 2019, the wedding of Katie & Luke at Smith Farm Gardens was one such perfect day. This beautiful estate in quaint East Haddam, Connecticut featured a classic and traditional theme with some fun and fresh twists to personalize the event.

The historical venue included an antique truck, wooden farm tables, and bright florals that tied their elegant, country-themed wedding together.
New Britain Museum of American Art’s Director’s Dinner
While weddings are some of the greatest events to cater, we love taking part in other events like celebrations of life, non-profit galas, and corporate recognition events. This past year, we had the honor of catering an event for our exclusive partner, The New Britain Museum of American Art. On April 6, 2019, the museum held its annual Director’s Dinner to celebrate all of its top supporters. The event’s theme was based on the extremely popular Georgia O’Keeffe exhibit on display at the museum.

The reception, which was hosted in the PB Stanley Gallery on the second floor of the museum, featured art on display as guests enjoyed appetizers and cocktails and immersed themselves in the works.

After that, guests headed to dinner in the Low Illustration Gallery on the first floor where other artwork was on display for guests to enjoy throughout the night’s festivities.
A Whimsical Summer Wedding in Newtown, CT
Sometimes, there’s a wedding that is just so stunning and unique it leaves a lasting impression with anyone who was able to experience it. This was the case with the June 1, 2019 wedding of Nicole & Mark at their home in Newtown, Connecticut.

This was a wedding like no other with creative elements around every turn and such a splash of personality that guests will simply never forget it.

The couple had an incredibly colorful and dreamy, whimsical theme which showed through in every aspect of the event, from a perfect mix of bold and delicate colors to a plethora of floral decors and colored glass.

This event was also a memorable one because of the vivid personality that was prominent throughout the night. For example, a rainbow menu with items such as Honey Glazed Crispy Pork Belly on Colored Edible Spoons, Rainbow Mac & Cheese, and Grilled Cheese on Rainbow Bread.
